Chennai Super Kings’ injury woes don’t seem to end in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. They have already lost Deepak Chahar and Adam Milne to different injuries this season and now their star all-rounder Moeen Ali has hurt his ankle. He is also likely to miss the next few matches of the ongoing edition. Moeen was actually dropped for CSK’s last game against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians but got injured on Saturday (April 23).

According to ESPNCricinfo, CSK are still waiting for the scan results of Moeen Ali who hurt his ankle during the training session. He is very much likely to miss the next few matches of the four-time champions but everything depends on the scan results as of now. CSK are set to play against Punjab Kings on Monday (April 25) and the England all-rounder is certain to miss this game.

In that case, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner is expected to continue to play his role at number three and deliver four overs of left-arm spin bowling as well. Santner returned with the figures of 1/16 in his three overs and then scored 11 runs off nine deliveries against MI in the previous game.

Moeen Ali has struggled a lot in IPL 2022

Meanwhile, IPL 2022 hasn’t been kind to Moeen Ali so far. He arrived in India late due to visa issues and missed the opening game of the season. In five matches he played this year, the left-handed batter has scored only 87 runs at an average of 17.40. Even with the ball, the off-spinner hasn’t picked up a wicket in the eight overs he has bowled. Having said that, Moeen Ali could’ve played a crucial role with CSK almost in a must-win situation now.

They are currently at the ninth position in the points table having won only two out of seven matches they played so far. The Men in Yellow will have to win at least six out of the next seven matches to have a chance of making it to the playoffs.
