Since its inception in 2008, the Indian Premier League has provided a platform for young players to rise up the ranks and help their respective teams do well in the tournament. The performances in the tournament have also been of paramount importance, due to the presence of quality national and international players. The same has kept the environment competitive. The performances of youngsters certainly leave an impact on the cricket fraternity and the selectors as well.

There have been many players in history, who have gone on to feature for the country after doing well in the tournament. Some of them have been Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Harshal Patel for India, and the likes of Sam Curran and Jofra Archer received a permanent place in the England team. Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Deep Dasgupta has picked his choice of uncapped player, who could don the India jersey soon.

Arshdeep Singh has been fabulous in IPL 2022: Deep Dasgupta

Dasgupta has chosen Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh, to be the player who can soon feature for the Indian team in the T20 format. He reckoned that Arshdeep has gone under the radar, even with his terrific performance, and added that the left-arm pacer has been consistent for the last two seasons. In 31 appearances, Singh has scalped a total of 33 wickets at an economy of 8.58. He was also one of the players retained by the PBKS franchise in this edition due to his performance of 18 wickets in 12 matches of IPL 2021.

“I think Arshdeep Singh has been fabulous, he is gone under the radar a bit. You know he is someone, as it is the left-arm seamers, you don’t have many options. Natarajan has made a good comeback, but Arshdeep has been absolutely fabulous, been consistent as well for the last couple of seasons. So I think Arshdeep would be the one I see, with so much of T20 coming up, including the T20 World Cup,” Deep Dasgupta told CricTracker’s ‘Not Just Cricket’ show presented by Sky247.net.

In the current season, Arshdeep only has three wickets but he has made sure the team secures victory in the last fixture against CSK by giving away only 14 runs in his final two overs in the death.
