Mumbai Indians recently gave their fans and cricketing admirers in general a little sneak peek into the life of their much-talked-about IPL signing, Dewald Brevis. Brevis who was seen as a hot property leading into last month’s mega auction was bought by the five-time champions, for an impressive INR three crore. The 18-year-old cricketer has since spoken highly of the tournament and expressed his excitement of being a part of it come March.

A clip posted by the franchise on their official Instagram handle shows the South African cricketer giving a small tour of his room, talking the viewers through a wall that boasts of several cricket-related posters. Brevis started with the poster of Sachin Tendulkar playing his much-famed uppercut shot. He then moved over to a poster of another former Indian cricketer, Harbhajan Singh, stating being an admirer of the bowler. Interestingly, both Tendulkar and Singh have been key players for MI in the past.

Dewald Brevis’s admiration for two RCB stalwarts was visible in his posters

The young batting sensation has publicly expressed his special attachment to another IPL franchise in Royal Challengers Bangalore. The cricketer who had been termed as ‘Baby AB’ due to the visible resemblance in his stroke play with South African great, AB de Villiers, as expected also has a poster of the cricketing legend on his wall. It is a photograph of Brevis and De Villiers from a practice session they had at the former’s home.

He then shed some light on his own poster that shows the youngster playing one of the most appreciated batting shots in the game, a cover drive. He then pans his camera down to a poster of one of the modern-day greats in Virat Kohli playing the same shot. Talking of the reasoning behind it, Brevis, who has been an ardent admirer of the Indian cricketer, said that he wanted to draw a comparison of his cover drive with that of the senior batter, who is often seen as arguably one of the best executors of the shot.
