The IPL 2022 has come to the final stage with just one more game to decide the winner and it will be either one of the Rajasthan Royals or the Gujarat Titans who will be holding the trophy at the end of the game on May 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Rajasthan Royals have a 100 percent record in the finals, winning the inaugural edition in 2008 and this will be the second final for them.

They have taken a long time to ensure they have a strong batting and bowling unit and a lot of credit has to be given to their think tank ahead of the mega auction this year. Jos Buttler’s four tons this season have been a massive factor at the top of the order for the Royals, and he stepped up yet again in a crucial encounter in Qualifier 2. With the kind of form he has been in, it is going to be difficult to stop him in the finals and it will be a huge bonus if Gujarat can get rid of him quickly.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans showed the importance of match-winners in an IPL side and they have got that in plenty. After finishing first in the league stages of the tournament, Gujarat managed to win Qualifier 1 comfortably against the Rajasthan Royals, and they will fancy their chances again. Hardik Pandya has been brilliant in marshaling the troops and his batting form has been a great plus for the side this year.

David Miller, who hardly found form in the last few IPL seasons for any franchise, has been back at his real best this season, and he has been a vital cog in the middle order. The bowling group has been feeding off each other in tough times and there has been a consistent amount of progression throughout the tournament in terms of talent development.

Pitch and conditions

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad saw the fast bowlers getting a bit of extra bounce in the last game, while the spin bowlers must be more accurate with their lengths. Any length slightly fuller was smacked out of the park and hence, the captain that wins the toss would want to bowl first.

Playing combinations for GT vs RR

Gujarat Titans

Wriddhiman Saha will be keen to make a mark in the finals, while Gill, Wade, Hardik, and Miller were all among the runs in the Qualifier 1. Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph, and Shami will all have to come good after leaking runs in the previous game.

Predicted Playing XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Matthew Wade, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals almost clicked in every department, however, they will need a big score from Yashasvi Jaiswal with Jos Buttler contributing hugely from one end. Samson and Padikkal have been among the runs while Hetmyer and Parag will play the finisher role. Ashwin has been excellent with his all-around duties and the new ball pair of Prasidh and Boult have been exceptional.

Predicted Playing XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Obed McCoy.
