Openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner both struck half-centuries as Kuldeep Yadav took 4/35 to help Delhi Capitals (DC) defeat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 44 runs in Match 19 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Shaw made 51 runs off just 29 deliveries with Warner scoring 61 runs off 45 balls as the duo set the platform for their team to post a huge total of 215/5 in the 20 overs.

Talking about how the match went by, skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss against his former franchise and elected to field first. KKR went the same team from the last match as DC made just one change with pacer Khaleel Ahmed returning and replacing South African Anrich Nortje. Shaw and Warner added 93 runs for the opening wicket with captain Rishabh Pant playing a quickfire inning of 27 runs off just 14 balls which included two fours and two maximums. Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur both remained unbeaten on 22 and 29 runs respectively to take DC to a massive score. The star from the previous match Pat Cummins conceded 51 runs for no wicket in his four overs spell.

Chasing 216 to win, opening batters Ajinkya Rahane amassed just eight runs while Venkatesh Iyer managed to score 18 runs. Shreyas Iyer smashed his first half-century in the IPL after 12 innings with the skipper playing a knock of 54 runs off 33 deliveries. KKR kept losing wickets at regular intervals as the target looked well out of their reach. Andre Russell mustered 24 runs off 21 balls as Khaleel Ahmed also bowled a brilliant spell of 3/25. With six points, KKR stays on top of the table while DC occupied the sixth spot with four points. For his four-wicket haul, Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged with the Player of the Match award.

Meanwhile, here are some of the important stats and numbers from Match 19 between KKR and DC in the IPL 2022:

 3 – Sunil Narine (21) surpassed R Ashwin (20) and is now the third-highest wicket-taking spinner against DC in the IPL.

3 – Narine is now joint-fourth with Dwayne Bravo for taking most wickets (21) against DC.

4 – DC registered their fourth-highest total (215/5) in the IPL history.

5 – Prithvi Shaw has now struck five fifties out of the seven innings against KKR. He has scored 392 runs with a solid average of 56.00.

1 – DC also scripted the highest team score (215/5) at the Brabourne Stadium. The previous best of 212/6 was by Mumbai Indians (MI) against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2010.

2 – Kuldeep Yadav registered his second-best bowling figures (4/35) in the IPL. His best is 4/20 for KKR against Rajasthan Royals in 2018.

3 – DC recorded the third-highest powerplay score of 68/0 this IPL season.

12 – Shreyas Iyer scored his first half-century after 12 IPL innings.

4 – DC recorded the fourth-highest total (215/5) by a team against KKR in the IPL.

51 – Shaw reached the 50 sixes milestone in the IPL.

1021 – Axar Patel reached the landmark of 1000 runs in the tournament.

50 – Kuldeep Yadav completed 50 wickets in the cash-rich league.

5514 – David Warner reached 5500 runs in the IPL.

4532 – Shreyas reached 4500 runs in T20 cricket.

2 – Shaw completed 1000 runs for DC in the powerplay and has now the second most runs (1023) in the first six overs in the IPL. Virender Sehwag tops the chart for scoring 1225 runs.

1500 – David Warner completed 1500 runs for DC in the league.

1 – Shaw has now scored the most runs (112) in the powerplay this IPL season. Robin Uthappa is second with 96 runs to his name.

5 – Shaw has now five 50 plus scores against KKR which is the most he has against any opponent. The right-handed batter has three such scores against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) each.
