The Delhi Capitals will be facing the in-form Rajasthan Royals in their next encounter of the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 22. Delhi faced a setback when two of their players and a few members of the staff tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, but what comes as a piece of good news for the team is that all other members, apart from Mitch Marsh and Tim Seifert who are under quarantine, tested negative in the latest tests.

Even after all the tense situation in the camp, the Rishabh Pant-led team managed to seal a thumping victory over the Punjab Kings in their recently concluded clash. DC bowlers restricted PBKS to mere 115 runs in 20 overs, and while chasing, the top-order batters achieved the target in 10.3 overs as they won the game by nine wickets. DC has good momentum, and the players are under great confidence after the much-needed win.

Here’s the predicted Playing XI of Delhi Capitals for Match 34 of IPL 2022:

Openers: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner

The opening duo has been performing outstandingly in the past few matches. David Warner has three half-centuries from the last three games, and he will look to continue his form.

Prithvi Shaw has been a great support for Warner. He has given some good starts to the team and played some important knocks. The two are proven performers, and can lead their team to a huge score if they carry their momentum from the previous game.

Middle-order: Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell

Sarfaraz Khan been in-and-out of the team this season, but he remained unbeaten against Punjab Kings, scoring a 13-ball 12 runs as he supported Warner to finish off the game after Shaw’s dismissal.

Rishabh Pant is yet to demonstrate his true potential this season. Pant would try to take on leadership role with the bat and contribute to his team’s performance. He scored 34 (17) against RCB, but his contribution was not enough to help his team sail past the Red Army. With some key players missing out, Rovman Powell will be handed an additional opportunity to demonstrate his big-hitting ability.

All-rounders: Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur

Axar Patel

Lalit Yadav smashed a match-winning 48* against the Mumbai Indians, but apart from that knock, he has underperformed. The 25-year-old has to prove his worth with the bat in order to maintain his spot in the XI.

The all-rounder duo of Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur has been really impressive this season. They led their team to a victory against KKR when they added 49 runs for the sixth wicket. They have been very economical with the ball as well. The two can be DC’s savior whenever in need and can be trusted to anchor the innings down the batting line-up and provide crucial breakthroughs with the ball.

Bowlers: Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has shut off all the criticisms since he made his way into the Delhi-based franchise for this season’s IPL. The left-arm wrist-spinner has won the Player of the Match award in his recent encounters against KKR and PBKS for his sensational efforts.

Khaleel Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have been performing decently for the team, and there have not been many errors in their game. The two will continue to restrict the batter from scoring runs, especially in their next game when they will face Rajasthan’s power-hitters.

DC Predicted XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Khaleel Ahmed
