The Lucknow Super Giants will be locking horns with the Mumbai Indians in Match 37 of IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 24. Lucknow will be looking to do the double over Mumbai, having got the better of them by 18 runs in the reverse fixture. Meanwhile, LSG would be heading into this clash on the back of an 18-run loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Despite suffering a defeat in the last game, the Lucknow team management will not be keen to make too many changes and would rather stick to the same combination. The team management would like to show faith in star Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, which means that West Indies power-hitter Evin Lewis will have to warm the bench.

Here’s a look at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) predicted XI against Mumbai Indians (MI)

Openers: KL Rahul (c) and Quinton de Kock (wk)

Skipper KL Rahul was well set and was going strong, having scored 30 runs from 24 deliveries before he was dismissed at the wrong time by Josh Hazlewood against RCB. That was one of the turning points for LSG and they eventually struggled in the run chase with the asking rate climbing up. The Karnataka cricketer would now be hoping to lay a solid foundation against the same opposition against whom he scored his first century of this season.

His opening partner Quinton de Kock, on the other hand, has been blowing hot and cold in the tournament. The Proteas wicketkeeper-batter has amassed 215 runs from seven matches at a strike rate of 134.38 including two half-centuries with his highest score being 80. He would be looking to bring his best against the Mumbai bowlers.

Middle-Order: Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, and Ayush Badoni

The middle-order has been a bit of a concern for LSG in the last few matches. Manish Pandey‘s performance has not been up to the mark on the 22 yards, with just 66 runs from five games with his highest score being 38. Lucknow would definitely be hoping for him to showcase a much-improved performance.

Deepak Hooda has been impressive this season, having scored 183 runs at a strike rate of 129.78 that include a couple of 50s. He is one of their consistent middle-order performers and would be hoping to make his bat do the talking yet again. Meanwhile, featuring in his debut season in IPL, youngster Ayush Badoni has managed 120 runs from seven outings and has remained unbeaten in two of them.

All-Rounders: Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya, and Jason Holder

Star Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has not been able to feature in the wickets column and has so far also not been able to play the finisher’s role to perfection. He would be hoping to roar back to form against MI. Krunal Pandya, on the other hand, has scored 111 runs including three not-outs and four wickets to his tally.

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has not been among the run, but has managed to create an impression with the ball in hand. He made his presence felt by bowling a match-winning final over against SRH where he took three wickets and now has eight scalps to his name from five games.

Bowlers: Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan, and Ravi Bishnoi

Dushmantha Chameera was one of the key bowlers for Lucknow in the last game against LSG with figures of 2/31. He has the ability to rattle the opposition with the new ball in hand along with his well-disguised yorkers. Young sensation Avesh Khan has been the most consistent bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants with 11 wickets from seven outings. He would now be hoping to march ahead in the Purple Cap race.

Promising leggie Ravi Bishnoi not only went wicketless against RCB in the last game but was also expensive having conceded 47 runs at an economy rate of 11.8. The youngster who has five wickets so far would now be looking forward to adding more to his tally going forward.

Here’s the Predicted Playing XI of LSG:

KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Manish Pandey, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi
