Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings will be locking horns against each other in the 38th match of IPL 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Last season, CSK were the champions while PBKS finished seventh in the table. However both teams aren’t having a great season so far, with Punjab Kings at the eighth place with three wins and Chennai Super Kings in the ninth place with two wins. Both PBKS and CSK have played only one match at Wankhede Stadium so far in this season, with both losing then. This will be the second PBKS-CSK match of this season, with PBKS defeating CSK by 54 runs in the first encounter.

Out of Punjab King’s last five IPL matches, they won both matches while batting first but lost all three matches while chasing. Their openers Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan are badly out of form, despite looking strong on paper. Jonny Bairstow who replaced Bhanuka Rajapaksa is yet to provide a decent knock. Liam Livingstone and Jitesh Sharma have played some crucial knocks further down the order. Leg spinner Rahul Chahar has been their top bowler, both in wicket-taking and controlling the run rate.

The difference between CSK’s last season and the current season is the Ruturaj Gaikwad’s inability to score much. Despite an out of form opening pair and an unsettling number three, Ambati Rayudu at No.4 has slowly begun to find his form, and Shivam Dube at No.5 has been their top performer. 38-year old pacer Dwayne Bravo and 21-year old spinner Maheesh Theekshana have been their top performers with the ball.
