The in-form Gujarat Titans locked horns with the struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 43^rd game of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Though RCB were off to a great start, they failed to defend their score after batting first, as GT batters swayed their way into the game to win the contest by six wickets.

RCB were able to produce a respectable total thanks to a strong finish from Mahipal Lomror. Following Faf’s early dismissal, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar steered the ship with a brilliant 99-run partnership. While Kohli was stumbling through in the partnership, Patidar was aggressive with the bat as he relieved his partner of the load. The two set the tone by getting half-centuries each, but Kohli’s sluggish start meant they left some runs to be scored.

RCB bowlers got a decent total to defend, courtesy of handy cameos by Glenn Maxwell (33 off 18) and Lomror that brought some much-needed vigour towards the closure of the first innings. The Titans’ best bowler was Pradeep Sangwan, while the others went a bit pricey but produced results in the wickets column as RCB managed to get 170 runs on the board.

GT pull off another epic chase to register their eighth victory of the season

The Titans had a good start to the chase as the openers put up a 50-run stand among themselves, and stood strong throughout the powerplay. Wickets fell at regular intervals for the Titans as they slipped from 51/1 to 95/4. Thanks to Wanindu Hasaranga and Shahbaz Ahmed who kept RCB’s hope of winning the game alive.

Come what may, Rahul Tewatia stands strong for his team to seal the deal against any opposition under gallons of pressure. That is what he did again as he pulled off yet another stunner with David Miller on his side for GT’s rescue. The game ended as a massive entertainer as the two added 82 runs with the bat in total and Gujarat retained their place at the top of the points table. Yet another entertainer by GT as they grab another epic chase, defeating RCB in the final over of the game.
