Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals will be facing each other in the 55th match of IPL 2022, to be played at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Both the teams occupied the top two positions of the points table last year, with DC losing both their playoffs and CSK winning the title. So far in the current season, CSK won three and lost seven matches, while DC won five and lost five matches. While CSK needs to win for staying in contention, DC would also fancy two points to boost their playoff chances. At DY Patil Stadium this season, CSK won two and lost one match, while DC lost their only match. Both teams will be facing each other for the first time in this IPL season.

After the openers struggled for a major part of the season, the opening pair Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were brilliant in the last two matches. In the middle order, Ambati Rayudu has been in good form in the last few matches. Dwayne Bravo, Maheesh Theekshana, and Mukesh Choudhary have been their top bowlers of the season.

Delhi Capitals had many of their players unavailable to play the last match due to injuries. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner have been a formidable opening pair for them. Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, and Rovman Powell have played valuable cameos in the middle order, with Rovman Powell scoring his maiden IPL fifty last match. Kuldeep Yadav has been their top bowler, being the second leading wicket-taker this season.
