After starting their tournament with a bang, the new entrants Gujarat Titans (GT) have now lost their last two matches against the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) respectively. Despite losing their last two matches, the Titans are firmly placed second in the points table.

GT fans must have felt sad after their favourite team lost the previous contest by a mere margin of five runs against the Men in Blue and Gold. However, they received a reality check against PBKS as they were mauled by eight wickets. The Titans from Gujarat will not breathe easy as they will face against another newcomer Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next contest.

GT team management might think to replace young batter Sai Sudharsan and give another go to the talented batter Abhinav Manohar in the next contest against LSG. Apart from that, GT looks like a very stable team and will look to get back to winning ways and enter the playoffs strongly.

Here’s the predicted Playing XI of Gujarat Titans vs Lucknow Super Giants:

Openers: Wriddhiman Saha & Shubman Gill

The wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha played an excellent knock of 55 runs against the five-time champions in their previous match. The right-handed batter stroked six fours and two maximums. Saha would wish to emulate his performance in the next match as well.

Just like Saha, Shubman Gill also played a fifty-run knock and almost sealed the game for his team in the previous encounter. He just took 36 balls to score 52 and stroked six fours and two sixes in the process as well. Gill has played some decent knocks in the tournament and would like to continue his good performance with the bat.

Middle-order: Abhinav Manohar, David Miller

Young batter Sai Sudharsan has played some decent knocks in the tournament, but he has not been able to perform regularly. In the last match, the left-handed batter could only manage to score 14 runs before he got out ‘hit wicket’. The GT management would look to replace him and give another go to the talented batter Abhinav Manohar in the next contest against LSG.

South African batter David Miller played a short but sweet knock of 19 runs against MI. The left-handed batter remained unbeaten as he stroked one four and one six. Miller has played some valuable knocks for his team and will look to continue his good form with the bat in the next match as well.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan

Skipper Hardik Pandya has liked the role of captaincy as his game as a player has also improved this season. The right-handed batter has played some excellent knocks in the tournament and has also batted with responsibility. As the tournament is approaching the business end, Pandya would like to continue his good performance with the bat.

The Tewatia-Rashid duo can wreak havoc on the field with their power-hitting abilities. Tewatia has been a proven finisher this year and has led the side to some epic last-over victories. Both Rashid and Tewatia have performed exceedingly well for the new entrants and would wish to emulate their good performance against LSG as well.

Bowlers: Alzarri Joseph, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami

GT bowling department has been bowling well in the tournament. The likes of Mohammed Shami and Lockie Ferguson have bowled decently. Both bowlers, have taken wickets at regular intervals and have stemmed the flow of runs when the team needed. Against LSG, both Shami and Ferguson will try to scalp the opening combination of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock.

West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph bowled well against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders. The right-arm pacer has got six wickets under his belt in as many matches but has been a touch expensive for his side. Senior pacer Pradeep Sangwan has also bowled with tight line and lengths and would look to continue his decent performance with the ball in the next match.

Predicted Playing XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Shami.
