Rajasthan Royals will face off against Chennai Super Kings on 20th May, Friday at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, in the 68th match of IPL 2022. Sanju Samson’s side sits 3rd in the table and needs a win to leapfrog Lucknow Super Giants in the 2nd spot as they boast a superior run rate to LSG’s. Although they have almost sealed their place for the playoffs, finishing in 2nd spot will give them two bites at the cherry in the playoffs.

The Royals are heading into the game on the back of a 24-run win against the impressive LSG. Sanju Samson will refrain from making any changes to the winning combinations. However, the availability of Shimron Hetmyer means that the West Indian will slot back into the team, replacing Jimmy Neesham.

Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler

Yashasvi Jaiswal has looked in fine form lately as the leftie has provided good starts to his side. It’s easy to get carried away when you have someone like Jos Buttler smacking balls out of the ground on the other end. But the 20-year-old has been calm in his approach and has trusted his placement and timing of the ball, which was on show in his last outing against LSG as he scored a brisk 29-ball 41.

Jos Buttler has been in the form of his life in IPL 2022. The Englishman is the leading run-scorer with 627 runs this term. The opener has scored three centuries so far and will be looking at equalling Virat Kohli’s record of four centuries in an IPL season. Although Butler has had a quiet couple of games, taking him lightly won’t be wise for CSK.

Middle-Order: Devdut Paddikal, Sanju Samson (C & WK), and Shimron Hetmyer

Buttler has been in sensational form for the RR and has single-handedly demolished opposition with his batting this season. The middle order too has provided him with able support. Paddikal and Samson have not been able to score big runs this season as the pair has just three half-centuries between them.

But they have played important cameos for their side on numerous occasions this year. Hetmyer has added the finishing gloss to the Royals innings as the Guyanese have scored 291 runs striking around 175.

All-Rounders: Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin

Riyan Parag hasn’t had the greatest of the seasons in IPL 2022. However, the right-hander has been contributing with his all-around abilities in the field. Parag accounts for 13 catches, the highest in the tournament for an outfielder this year.

Ashwin, on the other hand, has been sent up the order on a couple of occasions and the offie notched up his maiden IPL half-century against Delhi Capitals, batting at no. 3. The former CSK talisman has scored 143 runs along with ten wickets with the ball.

Bowlers: Trent Boult, Obed Mccoy, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Prasidh Krishna

Rajasthan’s bowling lineup has impressed as much as their batting setup this season. Trent Boult was electric in the powerplay against LSG as the kiwi ended up with impressive figures of 2/18 in his four overs. Prasidh Krishna has picked up 15 wickets in IPL 2022 sharing the burden of opening the bowling alongside Boult.

Yuzvendra Chahal has set the IPL alight with his canny bowling performances. The leggie is the leading wicket-taker in IPL 2022 with 24 scalps to his name. Obed Mccoy, who was included in the team in place of Kuldeep Sen, was impressive in the last game with his pace-off deliveries in the slog overs.

RR predicted XI against CSK: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (C & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Obed Mccoy, Yuzvendra Chahal, Prasidh Krishna.
