Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have signed Rajat Patidar as replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season.

Patidar, who represents Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, has so far played 31 T20s and has 861 runs against his name with the help of 7 half-centuries. The right-handed batter, who had previously represented the RCB franchise four times, will join RCB for the price of INR 20 Lakh.

RCB, who have so far played two matches this season and have won and lost a game each, will take on the Rajasthan Royals on April 5 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. RCB played their first game against PBKS, who came in under the leadership of Mayank Agarwal for the first time as a regular skipper. RCB lost that game even while scoring 205 runs wherein their new skipper Faf du Plessis shined with the bat while scoring 88 runs.

However, his knock went in vain as combined efforts from the PBKS batters pushed them over the line. It is to be noted that RCB appointed Du Plessis as their regular skipper ahead of the season as regular skipper Virat Kohli stepped down from the role. On the other hand, Du Plessis, who was not retained by CSK in the retention process, was bagged by RCB for INR 7 crore.

Talking of the second game of RCB, they won the game against KKR which turned out to be a low-scoring thriller. However, it remains to be seen how RCB will be able to take its journey forward in this season of the IPL. Their maiden journey for the IPL trophy continues this season too and it remains to be seen if they will be able to get their hands on precious silverware this time or not.

Du Plessis, who couldn’t bag the Orange Cap last time in a close contest, would be essential for RCB this time in winning them grab their maiden trophy.
