IPL 2022: Rating performances of teams in the second week

The second week of the IPL 2022 has concluded thrillingly, with the Gujarat Titans (GT) securing a victory over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by chasing down a total of 189 runs on the board. The win ensured the GT team cemented the second position in the points table with three victories in three appearances, while the PBKS stand at sixth with two wins in four league matches.

The Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants finished at first and third position respectively with three wins in four fixtures. The teams of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are yet to open their account in the tournament and are languishing at the bottom of the points table.

10. Mumbai Indians- 5/10

The brilliance of captain Rohit Sharma has not been able to find a victory for the MI team in the IPL 2022. With no wins in three league matches and a bad net run rate, they are at the second-last position in the points table and it will take a lot of effort from them to come back to winning ways. They featured in two matches in week two of this edition.

In the first fixture, they locked horns with RR, who smashed them to score 193 runs on the board. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills scalped three wickets each for the team. In the batting department, the half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma could not seal the game for them, as other batters failed to contribute in a fine manner.

In the second league match, they faced KKR and had a strong finish to their innings by posting 161 on the board with Suryakumar Yadav scoring a fifty. Although they kept it tight and kept picking wickets before Pat Cummins blew them with his 56 off 15 and MI lost their third league game of this season
