Ruturaj Gaikwad would be hoping to make a tremendous impact on the 22 yards yet again for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 that gets underway on March 26. He was simply outstanding with the bat in the previous edition, having amassed 635 runs to bag the Orange Cap and at the same time also played a key role in CSK’s fourth title triumph.
Just days ahead of the 15th edition of the marquee tournament, it seems that the defending champions have found an opening partner for Gaikwad in place of veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis. He is none other than their new recruit Devon Conway. Lately, Ruturaj and the New Zealand cricketer have shown mutual respect on social media which has now gone viral.

A die-hard MS Dhoni and CSK fan lately took to his official Twitter handle and shared the Instagram stories of both Devon Conway and the Maharashtra batter. Ruturaj Gaikwad posted a picture of the duo supposedly from one of their practice sessions but more importantly, Conway went on to share the story as a mark of respect.

The current Orange Cap holder was one of CSK’s retentions along with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and his English counterpart Moeen Ali. He has been offered a sum of INR 6 crore. Devon Conway, on the other hand, was bought for INR 1 crore at the two-day event in Bengaluru last month.
The title-holders would now be hoping for a memorable campaign this year having rebuilt their squad after making smart and important buys at the mega auction. The Yellow Army would not only be looking to regain their title but also win the IPL crown for a record-equaling fifth time.
The Chennai Super Kings kick off their IPL 2022 campaign against last season’s final opponents Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 26.
