IPL 2022: Team-wise one player who has been underused

5. RR – Kuldeep Sen

The fast bowler from Madhya Pradesh has amplified the Rajasthan Royals bowling line-up. The 25-year-old has been spectacular with his pace bowling, clocking speeds north of 140 kmph regularly. His death bowling abilities have helped Rajasthan Royals to their advantage. When the spearhead of the bowling lineup- Trent Boult has come short, Kuldeep Sen has stepped in. Although he has played only five games as yet, he has taken 8 wickets with a decent average of 20.37.

Rajasthan Royals are placed at the 3rd position in the points table, winning 6 games in 10 matches. But in a recent couple of games, their batting has stumbled and hasn’t provided the cushion to bowlers. Kuldeep has bowled well in those two matches clinching one wicket in each match. The pace bowling trio of Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Sen has solidified Rajasthan Royals’ bowling line-up. Since Kuldep’s inclusion, the bowling economy rate of the whole team has decreased.

The likes of Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna are great bowlers but their continuous inclusion in the playing 11 might cause fatigue concerns in the deciding stage of the league. Injury concerns can arise if not given proper attention to the workloads of Trent Bout and Prasidh Krishna. Kuldeep Sen is fit and has played only 5 matches. He might have been underused by RR till now but he definitely cannot be underused in their upcoming fixtures.
