The IPL 2021 went through a topsy turvy ride before being finally cancelled for an indefinite period on May 4. All was going smooth inside IPL’s strict bio-bubble until some positive COVID-19 cases emerged in Kolkata’s camp and then, there was no stopping. Almost every franchise started reporting a positive case and the entire league had to be called off. However, keeping in line with the future prospects, IPL 2022 is all set to hold a mega auction.

The mega auction 2022 will see a lot of players moving here and there and two new franchises are also expected to pitch in. Taking about Royal Challengers Bangalore, the franchise had a great start to their IPL 2021 campaign, having won most of their league stage matches in the beginning. It was for the first time that they remained in the top four from the very start. With the new auction coming in 2022, the team would like to maintain the same rhythm.

The franchise also has a record of releasing some big names from their squad in a short while. There also have been players who didn’t get good chances with RCB and got released. Therefore, Bangalore might target some of its old players in the next auction.

5 former RCB players which they will target in 2022 mega auction

1. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan turned out to be a surprise package for DC’s squad this season as he stunned all with his classy bowling show. He marked his IPL debut with RCB in 2017 but got only one match to display his skills where he failed to pick a wicket.

In the year 2018, he was roped in by Delhi and got just one match each in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. It was only in 2021 that he got all the matches with his team owing to his perfect show right from day one. Khan picked 14 wickets in 8 matches he played with DC in the season.

He maintained an economy of 7.70 and an average of 16.50 to keep his team moving. He was one of the top contenders for the Purple Cap. RCB would definitely like to have him back in the subsequent season.

2. Moeen Ali

The all-rounder of England was released by the RCB squad just before the 2021 season kicked off. He was roped in by CSK at a handsome amount and he fired all the way for the yellow franchise. He bolstered the middle order of CSK too well, the problem with which they suffered in 2020.

He got only three matches with the Bangalore army in the 2020 edition before being released. The team combination and other few things didn’t allow him to pitch in well and he got CSK as his new team. However, his old team might look out for him in the next season only.

Ali maintained a sublime form for the yellow army has as he smashed 206 runs in the six games he played, at a strike rate of 157.25. His average of 34.33 kept the scoreboard moving for CSK whenever it was required. He also picked five wickets alongside in the 2021 season.

3. Manish Pandey

Pandey has been a part of various IPL teams in his journey so far and he was with the Bangalore squad in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. He was released by the Bangalore outfit in the 2011 season and saw Pune Warriors India as his new team (now defunct).

Currently, Pandey is with the SRH squad and has given in his contribution well. His strike rate in the T20 league has been under a lot of questions but he is good enough to lift the middle order of RCB if they wish to trade him the next season.

In the five games with SRH in 2021, Pandey scored 193 runs at an average of 48.25 and a strike rate of 123.71. He smashed two fifties for the Orange Army in the short stint of the 2021 season. He can be a fine pick for RCB owing to his international exposure as well.

4. Shimron Hetmyer

Hetmyer started his IPL campaign in 2019 with RCB before being brought by Delhi Capitals in the 2020 season. Like in most of the cases, Hetmyer received some handful matches with RCB before being released. He couldn’t show the best of his skills in that season for them.

However, he did his job fairly in the 2021 edition with Delhi as he played a role of a pinch hitter in the middle. He wasn’t amid too many runs but made an impact on more than one occasion. RCB might eye him as they always need a settled pair in between.

Hetmyer collected 84 runs in his bag in six games he played in the 2021 season at the strike rate in excess of 200. Hetmyer has a decent experience of playing T20Is for his national team and it can help him in boosting his side in the upcoming edition.

5. Chris Jordan

The English all-rounder Jordan has enormous experience of playing T20 leagues across the globe. He was part of the Royal Challengers family in the 2016 season when they reached the finals but lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Jordan moved to SRH the next year and is currently a part of the PBKS squad.

Though Jordan’s records in IPL are not worth boasting, RCB might eye him due to his extensive experience in the T20 leagues. He has also not got all the matches in the recent years in IPL owing to his just average line performance. If RCB look forward to strengthening their all-rounder department, Jordan might be a pick for them

In the 2021 season, PBKS were not enduring a great run and he played three matches with them while scoring just 32 runs at a dismal average of 16.00. He picked two wickets in those three games as well. It will be a thing to see where he finds himself in the next season of the extravagant league.
