IPL 8 – KKR spinner Sunil Narine reported again for suspected illegal bowling action: Everyone in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp looked pleased that he was back, though not at his best, but Sunil Narine’s presence inspired confidence in their bowling. He had to remodel his action and undergo tests once for the ICC and then to convince the BCCI before the IPL. But today the BCCI Hony. Secretary Anurag Thakur in a press statement on the IPL website stated that KKR spinner Sunil Narine has once again been reported by the on-field umpire for having a suspected illegal bowling action.
This though not disqualifies Narine from taking part in upcoming matches but does get him under the scanner. Now the KKR would either want to keep him under covers for the important games or give him a break, make him undergo the test and clear himself than actually risking fielding him, which would make him vulnerable for a ban if reported again.
The Press Release read:
A suspected illegal bowling action report has been filed by the match officials on certain deliveries bowled by Mr Sunil Narine of Kolkata Knight Riders during the Pepsi IPL 2015 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders played on the 22nd of April, 2015 in Visakhapatnam.
As per the provisions of the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy, Mr Narine will still be eligible to bowl in forthcoming Pepsi IPL matches and may request a biomechanical analysis of the deliveries in question at the ICC and BCCI accredited testing facility, the Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy and Sports Science Centre (SRASSC) in Chennai.
