IPL Auction 2021 Preview: Purse Remaining for Each IPL Team & Player Slots Details

All eight teams will get a last chance to bolster their squads ahead of the IPL 2021 when they take part in the auction. The much-awaited event is scheduled to take place on February 18 in Chennai. The franchises will have 292 players to choose from in the forthcoming IPL Auction.

A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players from Associate nations will be up for grabs. Initially, a total of 1,144 players had registered themselves for the auction before the list was pruned by the BCCI after the franchises submitted their shortlist of players. Out of the 292 players, a maximum of only 61 players will get the IPL contracts.

Purse remaining and available slots for each IPL franchise

After releasing and trading players earlier, the franchises will be looking to strengthen their squads in auction. As usual, the vacancies and the amount remaining in the purse for every franchise is different. Royal Challengers Bangalore need to buy as many as 11 players to complete their squad. The Bangalore-based franchise have only 12 players in their squad at the moment.

With an eye on their maiden IPL title, RCB are once again looking to overhaul their squad and are set for a busy auction. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad need only three players to complete their squad. In terms of purse available, Kings XI Punjab go in with the highest purse of Rs 53.2 crore for their nine vacant slots. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will take part in the auction with the least purse of Rs 10.75 crore. KKR have eight vacant slots in their squad.

Talking about other franchises, Chennai Super Kings have 19 players and need 6 more signings to complete the squad. The three-time champions have an available purse of Rs 19.9 crore. Delhi Capitals have a purse of Rs 13.4 crore and have 8 vacancies in their squad. Defending champions Mumbai Indians, who have arguably the most balanced squad in the league, have a purse of Rs 15.35 crore and seven vacancies while Rajasthan Royals have a purse of Rs 37.85 crores for their 9 vacancies.
