Rajeev Shukla, the chairman of the Indian Premier League will be missing his first ever IPL auction after being called away on election work in Uttar Pradesh, something that has been in an issue in a long time. However, the fact of the matter remains that the auction will go on as planned despite the absence of Shukla.

Shukla has been a mainstay of the IPL auction in recent times given the fact that he has been the chairman and the commissioner as well since the roots all the way back in 2008. However, this time around, with the UP elections taking a turn in the massive northern state, the fact is that he will be busy to serve the nation ahead of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He however, took the time to wish the franchises well for the auction as well.

“I am unfortunately going to miss the auction. I am currently busy with election work in Lucknow, but I would like to wish all the franchises going into the auction. It will obviously be a big day and I wish them all the best,” the chairman said.

This edition of the auction is something that is expected to catch the eye of one and all given the fact that even Richard Madley is excited about the sale of Ben Stokes. The 26-yer old Englishman has been one of those people who has been touted by the best franchises as well and is expected to get a massive auction price tag, something that very few players these days are privy to. However, despite all of this, the auction promises to be an exciting one no less.
