Preview:

The hosts Ireland fielded quite a strong team for the first match of the three-game series against the Netherlands A. Having said that, Ireland Wolves won the first match of the three-game series. Batting first, Harry Tector, captain of Ireland Wolves scored 69 runs from 89 balls to help his side to a good score. He was well supported by Shane Getkate’s innings, which was the match-turning knock. He scored 74 runs from 40 balls. Peter Chase’s 28 and George Dockrell’s 34 pushed their total to 276 for 9 in the 50 overs.

In reply to this uphill task, Netherlands A didn’t seem to be up to the mark. They lost early wickets and kept losing them in intervals. It was a good collective bowling performance as all the bowlers picked up at least one scalp, with Craig Young and Getkate picking up two. For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek scored a good 59 runs from 76 balls, but it wasn’t enough.
