The Indian team is scheduled to play a couple of T20Is versus Ireland in Dublin. The opening match is scheduled to be played tonight and Virat Kohli’s men will enter the contest as the firm favorites. They declared a 16-man squad earlier for the short series. However, prior to the encounter, they are in with a serious injury concern as all-rounder Washington Sundar has injured his ankle and might be benched tonight.

The all-rounder limped off the part in the first hour of the team’s practice session at the Malahide Cricket Ground. He had his fielding drills apart from a warm-up football match. He had issues with his right ankle and needed the assistance of a couple of support staff to take him off the park. However, the reason for his ankle sprain is yet to be unveiled.

Will Sundar recover in time?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or any other team official haven’t updated anything about the injury. He has also been announced in the ODI and T20I squad for India’s tour of England from next month. The team would be hoping for him to recovery at the earliest and take the field. Sundar is a mere 18 years old kid, but he already has been impressive for the Men in Blue, especially in the T20I format.

He has played six T20Is in which he has notched 9 wickets at an economy rate of 5.60, which is deemed to be phenomenal in an era of slam-bang cricket. His previous international assignment was in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 where he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the event with 8 wickets from 5 matches.

Most importantly, he telecasted an unflustered mindset to restrict the batsmen.  The Tamil Nadu-cricketer has also played one ODI and would be keen to cement his spot in the 50-over format as well.
