The first game of the 3-match T20I series between Ireland and Zimbabwe got abandoned due to continuous rain at the Bready Cricket Club. Zimbabwe will be hoping to put a break to their struggles on the tour of Europe. Zimbabwe went down 0-2 and 0-3 respectively against Netherlands and Ireland in ODI series. They managed to draw the 2-match T20I series against the Dutch thanks to the win in the Super Over.

Civil Service Cricket Club couldn’t host the first game as the rain never allowed the ground staff to do their job. The second T20I will be played at the Bready Cricket Club which has a poor history with rain. As many as ten T20Is have been scheduled to be hosted by this venue but only five ended with a result. Four of the remaining five were abandoned without a toss while another game got called off without a toss.

(Will be added when there is an update)

Power Picks:

Craig Ervine’s impact with the bat changed in the T20 format since the turn of the year. In 2019, the left-hander scored 416 runs from 8 T20s at an average of 83.20 with the help of five fifties and a strike rate of 150. Across 50 Twenty20s Ervine played till 2018, he scored only two fifties. He would like to continue his form having scored a good amount of runs in ODIs as well.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

This tour has been all about the all-rounders with the likes of Mark Adair, Shane Getake, Sean Williams, Ryan Burl and Sikandar Raza excelling in all departments. Craig Ervine and Paul Stirling are in the form of their life while Andrew Balbirnie and Brendan Taylor are trustable top-order batsmen.

Zimbabwe might make some tough decisions. Even something to the extent of dropping Hamilton Masakadza can’t be ruled out given his poor show across the tours of Netherlands and Ireland.

Probable Winners:

Ireland will have an edge on recent form in this game despite struggling in T20Is.
