Shahid Afridi has recently commented about the Indian-owned region of Kashmir about the abysmal incidents in the state. He also blamed the United Nations (UN) and the other responsible authorities. Subsequently, he has been greeted with slack from every nook and corner of India. He wasn’t even spared by former and current Indian cricketers.

The likes of Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar, Mohammed Kaif, Suresh Raina and Rajiv Shukla, the official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have also hurled criticisms at the former Pakistani cricketer. They have asked the all-round cricketer to improve the condition of his own country rather than getting involved in matters of India.

Recently, Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma has also voiced his opinions on the issue. The Delhi-born cricketer severely bashed Afridi and termed them as ‘baseless’. Here’s what he mentioned on Twitter.

“As an Indian, I feel offended to see such baseless remarks! Kashmir is, was and…will always be an integral part of India”

Here is the tweet

India and Pakistan have been loggerheads with each other ever since their independence. During that time, Kashmir was divided between the two nations, owing to which the two neighbouring countries have been involved in wars. Their relationship has worsened with the passage of time. Pakistan cricketers had been a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the inaugural season.

However, following the disastrous Mumbai attacks by the Laskar-e-Taiba, Pakistani cricketers have been banned from playing in the tournament. Shahid Afridi played for the Deccan Chargers in 2008. The only Pakistani player who played in the event thereafter was Azhar Mahmood for the fact that he has British citizenship. Meanwhile, the Indian cricketers also don’t participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). For the time being, chances of improvement in their relationship look bleak.
