Islamabad United didn’t have the season they would have wished for last time around in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The team, captained by Shadab Khan couldn’t make the playoffs along with Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Quetta Gladiators. But before the 2021 PSL draft, they roped in Alex Hales from the Karachi Kings. After a poor start last time, the United will be looking for a decent start.

Their first game is against the Multan Sultans, led by Mohammad Rizwan, in the second of Sunday’s doubleheader at the National Stadium in Karachi. On the head-to-head count, both teams are locked on three wins each and a cracker of a game can be expected. The Sultans topped the table last time but bowed out after losing both games in the playoffs. They will be looking to make some amends.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch at the National Stadium has been a decent one for batting in recent times. But keeping in mind the fact that the chasing teams have had quite a bit of advantage, batting first shouldn’t be an option. The temperature will be around 25 degrees Celsius with the humidity in the mid-20s.
