Chennai Super Kings registered a sensational three-wicket win over arch-rivals Mumbai Indians during their IPL 2022 clash at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 21. While this marked their second victory in the competition courtesy of MS Dhoni’s last over heroics, former Australian pacer Brett Lee has picked two batters who were responsible for the defending champions’ first win of this season last week.

CSK registered the first points to their tally courtesy of a 23-run win over the southern rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore last week riding on outstanding performances from veteran Robin Uthappa and batting all-rounder Shivam Dube who scored 88 and 95 respectively that propelled the title-holders to a mammoth score of 216/4.

‘It was unforgettable’: Brett Lee

“CSK were playing RCB. Dube comes in, 95 off 46 deliveries. Four fours and nine sixes, you heard me right, nine sixes. He absolutely pulverized the bowlers. Uthappa 88 off 46, five fours and eight sixes. What’s going on in this IPL? Bowlers are getting canned left, right, and center. It was brutal, it was beautiful, it was unforgettable”, said Brett Lee while speaking on his Youtube channel.

“You can throw a million words in, tell you what that would have to be the pick of what happened last week with these two players at the crease”, he added.

Chasing 217 to win, RCB were never really in the contest as they lost their top-order cheaply and when Glenn Maxwell was castled off a beautiful delivery from skipper Ravindra Jadeja, it seemed as if Bangalore would end up suffering a humiliating defeat. The middle-order trio of Shahbaz Ahmed, Suyash Prabhudessai, and wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik looked to do the unthinkable from thereon. Ahmed top-scored with 41 while Prabudessai played a great supporting knock of an 18-ball 34.

Karthik, on the other hand, looked to keep RCB in the game with a quickfire 34 runs off 14 deliveries and showcased great aggressive strokeplay while bringing down the asking rate. Nonetheless, an unbelievable catch from Ambati Rayudu in the 18th over brought curtains down on him and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
