Former England captain Michael Vaughan has suggested shifting the team’s two-match T20I tour from Pakistan to UAE rather than canceling the tour. Earlier New Zealand abandoned their limited-overs series against the Men in Green citing security concerns. The first of the three-match ODI series was about to begin at Rawalpindi on Friday (17 September) but the Blackcaps found something fishy with regards to security and they called off the scheduled eight white-ball tour of Pakistan.

Earlier it was also reported as to how the British Commissioner to Pakistan dismissed the rumors of how they had involvement in New Zealand returning to the country without playing a game. England Men’s and Women’s teams were set to come to the Asian nation on October 10 to play the two scheduled T20Is on October 13 and 14. But now that series is under serious jeopardy.

Vaughan wants the proposed two-match T20I series to go ahead as per plan but in the UAE instead. “It would seem sensible to me to try and move England’s Pakistan games to the UAE rather than cancel the tour if it’s deemed unsafe to travel! Hopefully, the games for the Men’s & Women’s teams can take place rather than a full cancellation,” tweeted Michael Vaughan.

What was turned out to be the start of visiting teams touring Pakistan, turned out to be a sour affair in the end with New Zealand taking a U-turn right at the start of the limited-overs tour. Naturally, the Pakistani fans as well as several former players are disappointed by this act of Blackcaps. Now England is in a state of shock with the sudden turn of events.

Incidentally, visiting teams like South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka have toured Pakistan without any problems, whatsoever. England have not officially announced their abandonment of the two T20I series and it would be interesting to know how the England Cricket Board (ECB) would take the decision.
