The entire world has been grappling with the proliferation of the pandemic that is the coronavirus COVID-19. The total number of global cases has surpassed 2,30,000 which includes more than 9,800 fatalities.

Countries like Italy, the United States of America, United Kingdom are registering cases at an alarming level. India, on the other hand, has handled the rising proliferation of COVID-19 valiantly thus far, thanks to swift steps from the central government.

But, the situation remains critical as India is currently in the second level of the proliferation of the virus. And, while they’re still haven’t been any cases of community transmission, a new case has come into light where a Corona-positive man is reported to have travelled by the Mumbai-Solapur Siddheshwar Express on March 06 and returned by the same train on March 08, 2020.

According to a report published in Mid-Day, the man, after returning from the United States of America, took a cab to Kalyan, post which he boarded the train’s S-10 compartment. The man is said to have stayed in Solapur for a day where he attended a wedding.

The man returned by the same train with reportedly three companions in coaches P1, P2 and P3. The state authorities have now proceeded to form teams in order to track down the driver and others who may have come in contact with the man.

CR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Shivaji Sutar said, “We will extend all help in searching people who possibly came in contact with him.”

Aakash Chopra on the rising threat of community transmission in India

Former Indian cricketer-turner commentator Aakash Chopra reacted on the news on Twitter. The former opener fears that we are likely to get more such cases in the upcoming days and it will be a miracle if community transmission doesn’t take place in India.

“More such cases. It’ll be a miracle if community transmission doesn’t happen in India. God Bless Us. #CoronavirusOutbreakindia” Akash Chopra wrote on Twitter.

Speaking of ramifications of COVID-19 on cricket, the staging of the Indian Premier League looks a pretty bleak prospect now, with the Indian foreign ministry advising the BCCI not to stage the tournament in the current scenario.
