India is currently witnessing a disastrous second wave of COVID-19. Several countries have already banned flight from India to make sure that the Coronavirus doesn’t transmit. However, the decision from the Australian government has left everyone stunned. Apart from banning flights to and from India, the Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced a lockout for the Australian citizens in India.

No Australian will now be allowed to enter Australia until at least May 15 and if someone tries to break the rule, they will be jailed for five years. This decision has been taken so that the quarantine system in the country isn’t loaded but many are criticising the government heavily. Meanwhile, former Australia cricketer Michael Slater has also slammed the government for locking out it own citizens.

Slater, according to The Australian, escaped to Maldives over the weekend leaving the IPL bubble amid the ever increasing COVID cases in India. He was trying to reach home for a week before the Australian government shocking decision to not allow any one from India.

For the same reason, he has lashed out at the Prime Minister Scott Morrison. “If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It’s a disgrace!! Blood on your hands PM. How dare you treat us like this. How about you sort out quarantine system. I had government permission to work on the IPL but I now have government neglect,” Slater’s tweet read.

Here’s the tweet:

Positive cases within bubble in IPL

Monday didn’t start on a good note for IPL and the cricket fans as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp reported two positive cases. Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested positive for COVID-19. However, the rest of the players and staff returned negative results.

Meanwhile, three non-playing members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), CEO Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and a bus cleaner tested positive for the virus. However, they have undergone another round of tests to rule out the possibility of false positive. The rest of the CSK contingent has also tested negative.
