BCCI recently announced the 15-member strong squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021. However, what surprised the cricketing fraternity and the onlookers are a few key names that were not included in the side. One of which was of Yuzvendra Chahal. The spinner’s omission came as a big surprise and now he has opened up on his lean patch.

In the Indian Premier League 2021, Chahal picked up only four wickets from the seven matches he played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Thus, during a recent interaction with commentator and former cricketer Aakash Chopra, Chahal said that his poor form in the IPL was on his mind but the motivation from his wife helped him to cope up with the tough period.

“I see people’s messages, it feels good to be loved. It’s your closest ones that pick you up when you are down,” Chahal told Chopra on his YouTube channel.

He recounted his conversation with his wife Dhanashree and shared how she tried to put things in perspective for him. He stated that his wife termed his poor form as just a rough patch and that a bowler can’t take wickets every day. Chahal also asserted that when the batters are not playing an attacking game, it becomes a tad bit difficult to scalp wickets in the shortest format.

Yuzvendra Chahal raring for the second half of the IPL

India’s ace leg-spinner Chahal has been going through a lean patch in his career, owing to which he couldn’t make it to the T20 World Cup squad. Ahead of Chahal and Kuldeep who were the prime spinners for India in white-ball cricket, the Indian management went with the spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja. Chahal was having a tough time in international cricket recently and couldn’t turn it around in the Indian leg of IPL.

With the second leg of the IPL all set to resume in the UAE, Chahal will be keen to change his fortunes and contribute to the side. When the entire IPL was played in the UAE last year, Chahal was one of the key players for the RCB as he exuded some great form. The leg-spinner will be aiming to get back in form and help RCB to continue their good run in the tournament.
