James Pattinson's unplayable yorker left the batsman bamboozled

When a young James Pattinson entered the elite stage cricket, many reckoned he’s the future. Blessed with great pace, the English-born Aussie pacer was a revelation in his first few games but failed to catch up with the pressure of expectations in the time to come. He’s been in and out of the Australian side from the last couple of years and now he’s representing Nottinghamshire in the Specsavers County Championship Division Two.

In their recent game against Leicestershire, Pattinson grabbed an 8-fer in the entire match and is trying his level best to grab the attention of the Aussie selectors. Pattinson picked up 5 wickets giving away just 33 runs in 12 overs in the first innings and then backed it with 3 in the second innings, which propelled Nottinghamshire to an innings and 280 runs victory.

Batting first, Nottinghamshire scored a mammoth 547 after English international cricketer Samit Patel scored a breathtaking double-century. He ended up scoring 247 runs off just 305 balls and a quickfire half-century from Stuart Broad took them to 547 before they declared their innings.

Leicestershire got bowled out for 134 runs in their first innings, all thanks to a fiery spell of fast bowling from Pattinson. Incidentally, Leicestershire got bowled out for the same amount of runs in the second innings with Pattinson grabbing 3 more wickets.

Leicestershire were no match to Nottinghamshire and the scorecard just signifies that fact. But what caught the attention in the entire match was the yorker bowled by James Pattinson, which bamboozled one of Leicestershire’s batsman in their first innings.

Pattinson’s ball nipped back in late and the batsman was flabbergasted. Before he could even think of reacting to the ball, he saw his stumps all over the place. It was just a beautiful sight any fast bowler would absolutely love with the middle stump taking the aerial route and batsman completely losing control.
