Jayant Yadav and his debut could not have come at a better time. Having made the trip along with the Indian team to Zimbabwe before the Indian team left for the West Indies, the 26-year old did not get a game. However, in spite of this, Jayant Yadav has seemingly been given the debut he much expected.

The day at Vizag began with former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag when he handed over the cap to Yadav ahead of the start of the encounter. However, there was much more at stake on the day of the final ODI between India and New Zealand.

The Indian management had decided to request all the Indian players to don their mother’s names on the back of their shirts as opposed to the regular shirts they usually wear from time to time. While this was taken to by the Indian players, it had somewhat of a peculiar story as far as Jayant Yadav was concerned.

Having replaced Hardik Pandya for the final ODI and having to don his mother’s name on the back of his shirt, there are two names Yadav would have liked to have on the back of the shirt.

Current BCCI treasurer and former BCCI big gun Anirudh Chaudhury stated the importance of Mrs. Jyoti Yadav, the 26-year old’s second mother. His real mother was a woman by the name of Lakshmi, whose name Jayant has on the back of his jersey. Jyoti Yadav nurtured and brought Jayant up as her own son, helping Jayant in every which way possible as he went in pursuit of becoming a top-flight cricketer.

Apart from being a seamlessly talented off-spin bowler, Yadav is also known for his impressive batting acumen. It was this talent that helped him smash a wonderful double century against Karnataka in the previous edition of the Ranji Trophy.
