Leading the pace attack for more than a decade, Jhulan Goswami stood behind the Indian Women’s successful results in modern day cricket. Along with Mithali Raj, her contributions with the ball as well as the bat in the hour of need, helped her team achieve new highs and stands as an inspiration for the upcoming generation of players in the country.

On occasion of Jhulan Goswami’s 35th birthday, we look at her numbers in International cricket:

4 – Number of players in Women’s ODIs with 500 runs, 50 wickets and 50 catches including Jhulan. She scored 995 runs, picked 195 wickets and took 60 catches in this format. If she scores another five runs, she will be among eight players to have scored 1000 runs and bagged 100 wickets in Women’s ODIs.

5/11 – Her spell worth 5/11 against Australia in 2012 are the best bowling figures for an Indian Women in a T20I game.

6/30 – She is one of the two players in Women’s ODI cricket with a six-wicket as a captain. She took 6/31 against New Zealand in 2011. Unfortunately, this is also only 6-fer in Women’s ODIs to end in a losing cause. Mamatha Maben is the other captain with a 6-fer in Women’s ODIs as she picked 6/10 against Sri Lanka in 2004.

10/78 – Goswami is the only Indian to take ten wickets in a Test in Women’s cricket. She recorded these figures in 2006 against England in Taunton.

28 – Number of World Cup matches Goswami played in her career. These are the 2nd most in Women’s cricket by an India after Mithali Raj’s 31. Both Goswami and Mithali featured in 21 Women’s WT20 games, which are the most by an Indian.

36 – Her 36 wickets in World Cups are the most by an Indian Women. She went past Diana Edulji’s 31 wickets during the recent CWC. Goswami’s 36 wickets are the joint 3rd most for anyone in the Women’s World Cup history.

50 – She is the leading wicket-taker for India in Women’s T20Is and the only one with 50 wickets.

195 – She is the leading wicket-taker in Women’s ODI cricket with 195 wickets. She went past Cathryn Fitzpatrick’s 180 wickets tally earlier this year.

285 – Wickets Goswami has picked in International cricket. These are the most for any player in Women’s cricket till date.
