England won the three-match Test series 2-0 against Sri Lanka after the Lord’s Test ended in a damp draw. England skipper, Alastair Cook after the win said that the leading run-scorer of the series, Jonny Bairstow is similar to the former wicket-keeper batsman Matt Prior.

“He’s very similar to Matt Prior… when he was at his best, we could often be 100 for five and he’d change the momentum,” explained Cook.

Despite having a good run with the bat, Bairstow had floored some straightforward chances, but the England skipper said that he knows how much he has to improve his wicket-keeping skills. “Jonny is enjoying both roles, he knows how hard he has to work at his keeping — that is a conversation we do have,”

Bairstow is happy to continue the form he had in the series against South Africa, where he scored his maiden Test century. “Off the back of South Africa, it was important to start the summer well. I hope this is just the start of something that will be special for a while,” said the 26-year old wicket-keeper batsman.

After winning the Test series against Sri Lanka, the England skipper is looking forward to the next series against Pakistan. England under the leadership of Cook now holds Test series trophies against every other major international side except Pakistan and he will get an opportunity when Pakistan tour England for a 4-Test series starting at the Lord’s on July 14. Cook is confident going into the series and said that it would be a brilliant series.

“They’ve got a very good (pace) attack, backed up with spinners,” Cook said of Pakistan.

“We’re ready for them. We scored a lot of runs against Australia’s attack here last year — I think it’s going to be a brilliant series,” he signed-off saying.
