The South African legend Jonty Rhodes posted a special message for Suresh Raina on Twitter after the latter underwent knee surgery. Both highly rated as the best fielders the game has ever seen, Jonty Rhodes and Suresh Raina have set an exemplary benchmark in the fielding aspect of the sport. They share mutual admiration and great off-field camaraderie. Even Raina tweeted long ago when he met his idol ‘Jonty Rhodes’ and was termed as the Best Fielder in India.

On Friday, India’s Jonty (Raina) underwent knee surgery in Amsterdam. BCCI shared the news and assured that Raina will be back after 4-6 weeks rehabilitation. Replying to BCCI’s post, former protean Rhodes penned a heartfelt message, asking the Indian left-hander to listen to his body and ending his post with #aramse.

In his message, he quoted Raina as ‘inspirational’ to many cricketers out there. Later he praised Raina’s incredible work ethic over his career. He suggested Sonu (Raina’s nickname) to take his time to recover fully before he jumps out to training. He has been facing discomfort for the last few months.

Raina likely to miss part of the domestic season

Suresh Raina was last seen in action for India in July 2018 against England. He managed to score 383 runs in this year’s IPL for Chennai Super Kings. Unfortunately, he missed the bus for the World Cup in England. India’s selection panel didn’t ponder over his option with other players fit and available and in form as well.

It has also learnt that the Uttar Pradesh lad will miss the initial phase of India’s domestic season. It will still be hard for Raina to make another comeback for India as the competition is getting tough with the younger players making strong impressions for the spot. Having said that, the southpaw will be eyeing a spot in the T20I team with the T20 World Cup set to be played next year in Australia.
