With the Lodha panel breathing down the neck of the BCCI, reports suggest that the presiding judge Justice Mudgal has not claimed a single penny for the legal fees that has been due to him. This has been termed as a novel gesture as Justice Mukul Mudgal.

The latter has been an observer with the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) and has offered voluntary service to the association which has been embroiled in one controversy after another. The DDCA has been in turmoil over the last few years ever since being on the receiving end of a considerable amount of flak for the wicket.

However, an official of the board has come out stating that Justice Mudgal had not taken a single penny for his work in the ICC World T20, the Indian Premier League, and the subsequent New Zealand series as well. The source also went on to add that Mudgal’s service was just to get the DDC in order before it got embroiled in any other controversies.

“It is true that Justice Mudgal has not taken a single penny after the India versus South Africa match. Even the fees that were paid to him, he had donated for the Indian Paralympians. After that, he has not taken his regular fees for World T20, IPL, and the last ODI against New Zealand. He had overseen preparation for all matches,” one of the senior DDCA officials in charge told PTI.

The senior official also informed that Mudgal did it all for his passion for the game and money was never a consideration.”His only idea was to put DDCA house in order. He never cared for his fees. In fact, even his staff — the three-member team which has worked tirelessly has not been paid. The only person who has to be paid by the DDCA is former Deputy CAG IP Singh, who checked all the tenders,” the official informed.
