Kandy Falcons and Galle Gladiators rub shoulders with each other yet again in five days in the third edition of the Lanka Premier League on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. Both sides met on the second day of the tournament in match four which the Falcons won by a margin of five wickets in Hambantota.
Kandy has started the campaign in some style as they have played three games so far in this edition and clinched victories on all three occasions. The Falcons defeated Colombo Stars convincingly by a massive margin of 109 runs in their first outing while they beat the Gladiators and Jaffna Kings by five and three wickets respectively in their following two matches.
With six points and three victories, Kandy sits comfortably at the top of the points table. On the other hand, the Gladiators lost their opening two games to Jaffna and Kandy before claiming their first win of the competition against Colombo. With one win and two points out of three games, they occupy the third position in the table.
Speaking about the Head-to-Head fixtures, the Falcons just have an edge over the Gladiators with three victories out of the five games played in the league. Notably, the two-time runners-up of the previous two editions, the Gladiators will look to make it 3-3 when they meet in the upcoming clash in Pallekele.

As mentioned above, both teams last met in match four of the ongoing edition which the Kandy Falcons won by five wickets. Batting first, Galle Gladiators managed to post only 121/8 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Movin Subasingha and Imad Wasim scored 40 and 34 runs respectively to take their side to a total of above 120. Carlos Brathwaite was the wrecker-in-chief as he took figures of 4/14 with one maiden in four overs. In reply, Kamindu Mendis struck 44 off 34 as the Falcons reached the target in just 15 overs.
