Indian skipper Virat Kohli has breached the barriers across community, industry and even nationality as he has fans across all the strata of the society. Recently, Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan expressed her admiration for Kohli. This isn’t the first time that someone has revealed their liking for the No.1 ODI batsman. Quite recently, even actress Disha Patani had expressed her willingness to go out on a date with the Indian batting supremo.
Kareena Kapoor isn’t new to cricket as she and hubby Saif Ali Khan had recently even decided to bid for an IPL team. Her father-in-law is a renowned former Indian captain, the Tiger, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi. Hence it was also no surprise when she wished her son to grow up and become a cricketer just like the Nawab of Pataudi
Virat is my favourite
On the occasion of her 37th birthday, Kareena spoke of her fondness for Kohli. “I love the way Virat plays. He is my favourite,” She didn’t stop at this. Indeed she further went on to compare Kohli with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. “Isn’t he already the next Sachin Tendulkar? After all, he’s the reason why we are winning so many matches in succession,” Kareena was quoted as saying by India.com.
While it may still be early to compare him with Tendulkar, there’s no doubt that he’s already on his way there. Virat has already scored 30 centuries in One Day Internationals and second only to Tendulkar who has a stupendous 49 centuries to his name.
Kohli has also been the highest run scorer in ODIs this year so far and with a long season ahead, he may continue to top the batting charts. Even as a captain, the 28-year-old has achieved tremendous success in both the formats. He is yet to lose a Test or an ODI series as a captain and that defines the invincibility of the current Indian team.
