Team India is currently the number one ranked team in Tests owing to their domination at home over the strongest of opponents. Recently, the team captained by Ajinkya Rahane won their only Test versus Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. They put forth an impressive show to skit their opponents out within two days and stamped their authority on the format yet again.

They will now visit England for a five-match Test series which starts in August. Last time around, they were made to bite the dust in the United Kingdom and will be itching to turn their fortunes around. Meanwhile, Karun Nair, who couldn’t get into the playing eleven for the one-off Test, iterated the approach India employs when they take the field.

“Everyone chips in at the right moment”- Karun Nair

“We were not looking at who were playing and we were focusing on our brand of cricket. It doesn’t matter who we play or where we play. It is about focusing on how we play as a team. We have to keep that as constant,” Nair was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

The Test side has shown consistency, a reason for their stupendous run of form. Virat Kohli has led the team with dignity and hardly allowed the oppositions to get a lid over them. They have rolled over teams like England, Australia, and South Africa without dropping much sweat at home and that has helped them to climb the latter.

“We have done that (been consistent) for the last few years, and if we can do it, we will stay as No. 1 Test team. Everyone chips in at the right moment and collectively you start performing. We can beat any team on the day,” the Karnataka-cricketer added while highlighting the importance of staying consistent and not letting complacency sneak in.

“It is a historic moment for them to get Test status and play against India. It is a great thing like the way Afghanistan has made it to Test cricket. They will only get better,” the 26-year old remarked while hailing Asghar Stanikzai and his men’s journey among the big boys of the game.
