Cricket is a funny game in aspects to scorecards as many of the matches have very odd-looking scorecards in official matches. The team has made very high scores in matches with only a few batters contributing and some have a very high number of ducks in their score. This usually happens in girl’s cricket, given that development and guidance to them are not at par with the boy’s game.

One such instance was seen lately in a U-19 district girls cricket match in the Kerala state of India. The U-19 match was played between the Kasaragod girls’ team against the Wayanad girls’ team at the Perinthalmanna Cricket Stadium in Malappuram district. The encounter has entered into the record books for all the wrong reasons, as it saw the Kasaragod team getting bowled out for just 4 runs.

No batswoman scores a run, 10 ducks in an innings recorded

Kasaragod skipper S Akshatha won the toss and decided to bat against Wayanad in the 30 overs per side North Zone inter-district match. However, the script went horribly wrong for the Kasaragod skipper, as her team went down like a pack of cards, with no batswoman able to score a single run with their bat and the only runs came in form of four wides.

The interesting part to notice here was that all the batters of the team were out in a similar fashion. All were bowled out, with Wayanad’s VJ Joshitha picking up a hat-trick in the melee. The Wayanad openers then chased down the total in the first over itself, handing a crushing 10-run defeat to their opponents, who were already embarrassed with their record low total in the game.

“It is quite embarrassing and shocking really. It is our best available team. We don’t have a woman coach. So, we utilize the services of one of our senior players, who has played at the zonal level as the coach of the U-19 team. At least a couple of players in our U-19 team had played zonal last year. Wayanad is one of the best teams in the state when it comes to women’s cricket. But even then, this performance from our team is inexplicable,” Noufal PH, Kasaragod district cricket association secretary, was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
