Few cricketers from Kashmir were detained after a video went viral on social media in which the boys were seen wearing Pakistan’s jersey and singing their national anthem. The clip went viral ever since the Kashmir Media Services, which is set up outside Pakistan, uploaded the video along with the news.

Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Central Kashmir deputy inspector general of police, went on to state that the accused are in jail for interrogation and strict action will be taken.

According to Hassan Bhat, “The boys are in the police station” Having said that, there has been a severe rebel against the arrest of these players as the residents demand an immediate release of the players. The players are representatives of a club belonging to the Kalmul area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal.

If sources are to believed, the match was supposed to be a clash between a Pakistan team and an Indian team. Therefore, Indians put on the whites whereas the boys imitating the Pakistan team wore green. Hence, the national anthems of the two teams were played right before the commencement of the match, which is a norm in any international match. According to an anonymous Ganderbal resident,”National anthems of both countries were played, like in any international match,”

The sources could not verify if both team’s national anthem were played as the video displayed only the anthem of Pakistan in the picturesque background of Wayil playfield in Ganderbal. A squad of the counter-terrorism National Investigation Agency (NIA) is all set to fly from New Delhi to the Valley on Thursday to investigate the cricket incident further.

The players in green were identified as players of Baba Darya Ud Din team, which is titled after a popular sage located at Ganderbal. The match was played on April 2, when Indian Prime Minister NBaredra Modi inaugurated the Chenani-Nashri tunnel.
