Virat Kohli came to the fore in 2008 when the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar ruled the roost for India at the international level. However, as his career progressed, he kept growing in stature. He mostly batted in the lower middle order at the start of his journey for India and quite often, he threw his wicket away to rash strokes.

But gradually, he underwent a massive transformation. From being a chubby and brash personality, he turned into a person, someone could count on. He also brought about changes in his appearance and is currently amongst the fittest cricketers in the country. The now 31-year-old has learned the art of handling pressure and tough situations only tend to get the best out of him.

Kohli goes down the memory lane

After dominating ODI and T20I cricket for the first few years of his career, he also found his feet in Test cricket. At the present point in time, he is not only rated amongst the best batsmen, but also as one of India’s most successful captains. In 2014, he took over as the Test skipper after which in 2017, the Delhi-born took charge of the national team in all the three formats.

In the meantime, Virat posted a picture where his older self can be seen fist-bumping with his newer self. “With many learnings along the way, I’m grateful for your love and support you guys have shown me,” Kohli captioned the picture and wrote.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh, the veteran Indian off-spinner, had some words of praises for Virat. He reckons that Virat can continue playing cricket until 2030. He replied to Virat and wrote, “Keep going till 2030,”

Earlier this year, Kohli talked about the travails of being a captain, but said that he won’t be having issues in the next couple of years in his career.

“It’s not easy being captain, having that intensity in the practice sessions. It does take a toll on you. Periodic breaks seem to work pretty okay for me.

“At a time where the body can’t take anymore, maybe when I am 34 or 35, we will have a different conversation. For the next two to three years I have no issues at all,” Virat had said.
