'Keep the scoreboard ticking' - Brian Lara has a tweet for Rishabh Pant

The first Test between England and India is underway and it has been quite eventful so far. After the hosts were bundled up for just 183 runs, the Indian openers provided a steady start to the team. However, with James Anderson chiming in the scenario and taking consecutive wickets India found themselves in concern. Amidst this, when Rishabh Pant walked the feel he seemed to be playing his natural game and the West Indies legend Brian Lara was all praises for Pant.

The Indian openers put together 97 runs with no loss to give the side a flying start. Rohit Sharma then walked back looking to pull the short delivery by Robinson and was caught at fine-leg by Curran. Anderson sent Pujara and Kohli in quick succession which was followed by the unfortunate run-out of Ajinkya Rahane. This led to Rishabh Pant taking the charge of the field and going by his natural game, he looked to play attacking cricket. This approach of Pant impressed Brian Lara as he took it to Twitter to express about the same.

Pant hit it over the covers to get off the mark in his own distinct style. He displayed his intentions clearly by smashing the ball at the very beginning of his innings. Lara motivated Pant to keep the scoreboard ticking as he wrote: “That’s it @RishabhPant17take the attack to them!!  Keep the scoreboard ticking over.”

Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are currently holding the fort of India

India ended day two of the first Test match trailing by 58 runs. Rain and bad light had interrupted the game on day one that cut the action short. After having a good start the Indian team lost their middle-order within no time and it now becomes a testing time for the side.

On day one the pacers did a splendid job by sticking to the right line and lengths. They seemed to take a lot of pace off the ball to make the most of the England conditions. The Indian batters now will have the responsibility of giving a healthy lead and staying a bit resilient on the field.
