With the gruelling 4 match Test series against India just around the corner, Australia is currently in Dubai for a pre-season camp to prepare themselves in subcontinental conditions. Steve Smith and Co is currently sweating it out at the ICC Academy in Dubai to prepare themselves against the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja on turning tracks. Australia was whitewashed 4-0 in their previous series on Indian soil so they will be wary of the fact and will look to come prepared.

“What they can do in Dubai is do a lot of different preparation with different types of pitches. The ICC have done a really good job where they’ll have different pitches of the cities,” Australia’s executive general manager of team performance, Pat Howard was quoted as saying by Cricket Next. Both Cricket Australia and the team captain Steve Smith posted pictures on social networking sites to give a rough indication of their hard work ahead of the tough Test tour in India.

Former English captain Kevin Pietersen who has performed pretty well in Indian conditions rang the warning bells in the Australian camp. He stated that Australia shouldn’t tour India if they can’t tackle quality spinners. Indian spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav was dominating against England and it surely is a big concern for Steve Smith and Co.

“You’ve got to learn to play spin quick,” Pietersen was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. Learn to play spin very quick. If you can’t play spin, don’t even go. When you get there (India) you’ve got to practice it, and you can actually practice it here. I can do spinning drills in Australia, I did them on a South African wicket to make sure that my feet were going and picking length.

“You can, you don’t need to be on a spinning wicket to play spin properly or practice spin, you can be on any type of wicket. It’s about picking length, and picking lines and getting your feet going,” Pietersen added.

The 4 match Test series kick off on 23rd February with the 1st Test scheduled to played in Pune. It will be a historic moment for the ground as it will the first time they will be hosting a Test match.
