Preview:

Hubli Tigers will take on Shivamogga Lions in the Eliminator match of KPL 2019 on Thursday. Interestingly, the two teams began their campaign facing off each other in the 2nd game of the tournament. The Lions defeated Tigers by a huge margin. The winning team in the game on Thursday will play the 2nd Qualifier against the Belagavi Panthers, won were the losing side in the Qualifier 1.

Both Hubli Tigers and Shivamogga Lions won three matches and lost three during the league phase. After two defeats, the Hubli team won three of their next four matches to qualify for the playoffs. Shivamogga, on the other hand, won three straight matches to kick start their campaign. However, starting from the Krishnappa Gowtham’s once in a lifetime match, the Lions lost three in three.

Weather Condition/Report:

The Eliminator is expected to be played without any interruption like the first Qualifier. The weather forecast does suggest rain on Thursday but during the day time. There will be enough time before the scheduled start to get the ground match fit.

Pitch Condition/Report:

After five consecutive matches won by chasing teams in Mysore, the batting first side came out on top in the previous two nights. Chasing 190+ turned to be tough on both occasions just after a record 241-run chase. However, given the batting depth of Hubli and Shivamogga, they could well chase 180+.

Average first innings score: 197 (KPL matches in 2019 played in the night)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 2, Lost – 2

Shreyas Gopal will be available for the remainder of the tournament.

Pavan Deshpande and Arjun Hoysala have been quite consistent in this season and will hold the key once again.

Expert Advice:

David Mathias misses out from out suggested XIs with the inclusion of Shreyas Gopal as both cost 9 credits. Nihal Ullal had three 30+ scores in the first three games but less than 30 runs in total in the next three. His 10 credits are too high to afford in the current situation as there are players of 9.5+ credits among all-rounders.

Probable Winners:

Hubli Tigers are expected to make a get better of Shivamogga Lions.
