The Karnataka Premier League (KPL) is all set to see its eighth edition kickstart on the 16th of August. The defending champions Bijapur Bulls will be taking on the Bengaluru Blasters at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The auctions for the upcoming edition were held on the 27th of July. As many as 237 players went under the hammer. There were 35 players from the Pool A category while there were 202 from the Pool B category that were auctioned.

There were several stars that went under the hammer as well. The likes of Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Shreyas Gopal, Ronit More, and Krishnappa Gowtham were some of the star attractions. However, most of these Karnataka regulars went unsold as they are due to get picked in the upcoming Duleep Trophy which is slated to start on the 17th of August.

On the other hand, the likes of Stuart Binny and Robin Uthappa were ignored due to their other commitments. While Binny is away playing for a county in England, Uthappa’s commitments with Kerala cricket prevents him from playing this league.

In the auctions that took place on Saturday (July 27th), Pavan Deshpande attracted the highest bid. Deshpande was closely followed by Aniruddha Joshi who was picked up by Mysuru Warriors who paid Rs. 7.1 lakh for the 31-year-old.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Rongsen who currently plies his trade with Nagaland in domestic cricket went was the highest attraction in Pool ‘B’. He was bought for a sum of Rs. 6 lakh by the Bengaluru Blasters. The likes of Amit Verma, Mohammad Taha and Prasidh Krishna were all bought for prices over Rs. 5 lakh.
