Krunal Pandya backs Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetri; promotes football

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya has come out in support of Indian football skipper Sunil Chhetri to bring in more fans to throng the stadium as the Indian football team takes on a few international teams in the FIFA and Elo rankings.

Chhetri had come out earlier and literally begged the Indian sporting fraternity to come out and support the side as they would do so in cricket. The 33-year old Indian skipper released the video on his Facebook account recently and went viral with many pledging support for the Indian football team. Eventually, this was shared by incumbent Indian captain Virat Kohli. This makes Krunal Pandya the second to re-share Chhetri’s claims.

Sunil Chhetri not only addressed the loyal fans, but also the ones who have come out in recent criticism for the team. In his address, he said that he would be happy to invite the ones who believe they are wasting their time watching Indian football and focusing on European football. The fact that he pleaded with the Indian public to come out and watch is something certainly moving, to say the least.

Krunal Pandya did not have the best of IPL seasons this time around. Having been RTM’d during the IPL auction, Pandya was expected to make it big, but failed to do so as the Mumbai Indians eventually were knocked out of the tournament prior to the playoffs. Krunal said, “Football in India is inspiring and reaching places. Let us do our bit by supporting our Indian Team, chalo aajao.. Jaha kahi bhi ho.. Stadium aao.. cheer karo, support karo.”

He would also go on to add, “chalo aajao.. Jaha kahi bhi ho.. Stadium aao.. cheer karo, support karo. (Come on, wherever you are, come to the stadium, cheer and support)”
