Kuldeep replied to his tweet yesterday evening and thanked Harbhajan for his praise. “@harbhajansingh thank you so much bhajju Paa”, Kuldeep retweeted. The 22-year-old replaced captain Virat Kohli who sustained a shoulder injury during the opening day of the Ranchi Test and was subsequently ruled out of the Dharamsala Test on the morning of the Test.

Despite the Dharamsala track not known to assist the spinners, the Indian team management decided to give Kuldeep his maiden Test cap. The decision baffled many critics as many thought an extra seamer will be played. Ishant Sharma was dropped and made way for Bhuvneshwar Kumar who was cited to be a more potent weapon than Ishant, especially in seam friendly conditions.
Kuldeep’s first Test wicket was a real big one when he induced a false shot from a well set David Warner who was going great guns. It was a flipper which bounced sharply and took the outside edge of Warner’s bat. Ajinkya Rahane at slip completed a regulation catch. His 2nd wicket was an exceptional delivery which bamboozled Peter Handscomb all ends up.
It was a beautifully flighted delivery outside the off stump. The right-hander went for an expansive drive leaving a huge gap between the bat and the pad. The ball turned sharply and disturbed the timbers. He then foxed Glenn Maxwell with a well executed wrong un. The swashbuckling batsman was squared up completely and the ball went on to hit the top of off and middle.
He finished with the wicket of Pat Cummins as the fast bowler gave a simple return catch to Kuldeep. It was a well tossed up delivery and Kuldeep failed to get to the pitch of the ball.
