Kusal Perera, the left-handed top-order batsman from Sri Lanka was suspended by World Anti-Doping-Agency from playing cricket for about six months. As per their reports, he failed in a urine test due to which he was handed with a provisional suspension.

Later on, it was proved that the reports were wrong and he had never taken any type of performance enhancer. After that, the legal team of Perera held talks with WADA over the compensation that should be given back to the cricketer. And, it looks like Perera might get a hefty amount of US$ 500,000.

The left-hander is one of the best batsmen in the Sri Lanka cricket team, who made his debut back in 2013 and since then he has donned national jersey in 18 Tests, 101 ODIs and 47 T20Is in which he has mustered 5052 runs with the help of 7 tons and 30 half-centuries.

Kusal Perera to receive US$ 500,000 as a part of his compensation

Kusal Perera was on his tour to New Zealand when the news broke in media that he was failed in a drug test. It was heartbreaking news for the player, who had to miss several big tournaments like Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Later on, he filed a case in which the Sri Lanka cricket board spend a big amount of US$ 100,000.  However, Perera paid all the amount back to the board from his match fees. Meanwhile, he had to go through polygraphy test but nothing came out of it.

It all happened due to the wrong reports given by Qatar based lab, who found some samples in his blood. In 2016, Paris based declared that the reports of the previous lab were not correct. So, ICC and WADA blacklisted that lab.

Now, there are reports that Perera’s legal team is in discussion with WADA over the compensation that will be given to the player as he has lost a total of six months of cricket from all forms. And, it looks like he will be paid with an amount of and around US$ 500,000 as a part of his compensation.
