Pakistan’s chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq has stated on Sunday that fast bowler Rahat Ali was not selected in the Pakistan squad for the West Indies tour due to fitness issues.

He also told that Rahat Ali did not play any kind of cricket after the Australia tour so there is much doubt about his fitness.

“After Australia tour, Rahat Ali didn’t play any cricket. He was not able to bowl well, undoubtedly he is a good bowler when in rhythm. Micky Aurthur couldn’t see what we saw in his bowling.””

The 47-year-old is also confident of his players to perform well in the upcoming matches. According to the former cricketer, they should trust those players who have been selected rather than concentrating on the players who are out of the team.

“They are good players, if they have not yet played according to our expectations, they may give their performances in next coming matches. Ahmad Shazad have joined the team after a long time, so there is obviously pressure on him. We should give our trust to the players who we have selected”

The Pakistan team have scripted victories over the West Indies in both the one day international and T20 series 2-1 and 3-1 respectively. They played wonderfully outclassing the West Indies in all the three departments of the game. But their real test would be in the longest format of the game as Pakistan are to play three tests against the West Indies which gets underway from 22nd April.

High profile Pakistani cricketers Misbah Ul Haq and Younus Khan has announced their retirement from the beautiful game after the series against the Caribbean, much to the disappointment of the Pakistani fans. However, both of the cricketers would like to end their respective careers on a winning note with a series triumph over the West Indies.
